MGM Bulk trucking family celebrated as Kenworth Legends
From a single Leyland truck in central Queensland to one of the nation’s largest family-run fuel logistics fleets, Emerald Carrying Company is still being driven by the same values that forged it 60 years ago.

MGM Bulk directors Mario Giacci and his children Giudi and Michael are the latest operators inducted as Kenworth Legends.
The Kenworth Legends are all people who have, like the Kenworth brand, shown inspirational strength, perseverance and success.
The WA trio was officially welcomed into the hallowed club at this week’s Trucking Australia 2026, the Australian Trucking Association’s annual conference, held this year at Hamilton Island.
In Kenworth Trucks’ commemorative video below, Mario, Giudi and Michael share the history of the Pilbara-based MGM [named from their initials] Bulk, the hardships, sacrifices and the key to the company’s enduring success in the harshest of environments.
“Every asset up here runs 24/7,” says Michael in the video above.
“The truck will get turned on. It does not get turned off until 10 days later. And it’s a tough environment, tough conditions. And it’s hard on gear, it’s hard on people. It’s hard on families. It’s hard on everything.”
Adds Mario: “It’s a tough country, and if you’re not resilient, you shouldn’t be here.
Michael reveals that the company moves up to 26,000 tonnes of iron ore from the Pilbara to Utah Point in Port Hedland every day.
Giudi adds that when you factor in the salt, limestone, gravel and sand for road construction, the company is hauling up to 44,000 tonnes a day, with its fleet travelling more than 113,000km and using 150,000 litres of fuel each day.
“Every day’s Monday morning, that’s why I love the Pilbara,” says Mario, who was also inducted into the Shell Rimula Transport Wall of Fame in Alice Springs in 2024.
Giudi and Michael also share how MGM Group was launched in 2004.
Mario Giacci and his family started a small business specialising in transport and logistics in the 1950s.
From small beginnings in Bunbury WA, this family business grew into a nationwide operation called Giacci Bros.
“The three brothers were at loggerheads because everyone wanted to go in a different direction,” explained Giudi.
The trio originally began trading as MGM Limestone, before adding the bulk division after the sale of Giacci Bros to a public listed company in 2014.
“We love being together,” says Giudi. “We love each other. There’s a lot of love and kindness within our family.”
So what does being Kenworth Legends mean to the family?
“It means a lot,” says Giudi. “It means a great deal because Kenworth have the same values as MGM. They are our partners and that’s why that relationship works with Kenworth.”
